Compositions
I usually have a new composition ‘on the go’.
Most of my music writing currently is for choirs. The ladies’ choir in Brentwood that I used to sing with, Bra-vissima, are kind enough to perform much of what I write and recordings will eventually be available. My “new” choir, The Sheffield Chorale, performed one of my Christmas carols at their 2021 Carols by Candlelight.
Some of my music has just been performed in Exeter Cathedral, where Bra-vissima were delighted to be the choir in residence for the weekend. My Missa Brevis was also sung in Chelmsford Cathedral.
I particularly enjoy writing for children and have written a Children’s Mass for the children’s choir of St John the Divine, Kennington. I am pleased to report that they enjoy singing this as part of their regular repertoire, with its inaugural performance in St John’s College Chapel, Cambridge.
2019 did produce a couple of recordings, for reflection and meditation. Much gratitude to Marc Cecil for his recording expertise, and to Catriona Kadirkamanathan for singing and playing her ‘cello so beautifully. Future projects include venturing further into instrumental composition with tuneful miniatures for young students; a Little Suite for junior orchestra and, of course, more choral compositions.
