I have decided to join together my various interests, activities and offerings under one heading in this website, namely: Sue Hughes Values Living.
Yes, I do value living, and yes, I endorse fully living my own values.
My background is as a musician, and I am still fully engaged in this as a teacher and composer; I also enjoy making music, currently primarily as a member of a choir (The Sheffield Chorale), and accompanying students in their exams and other performances.
I have always loved language and enjoy using words to their fullest potential. In my songwriting I enjoy often writing my own lyrics and this has led to writing poetry for its own sake. Prose writing has followed on with the creation of two blogs. The act of writing these short articles has stimulated me to start The Great Amalgamation – putting together teaching, writing, performance and coaching skills to provide a variety of services.
Coaching has come about through my teaching, but also through illness. A few years ago I was laid low by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My recovery from that led me along unplanned paths, but it resulted in training as a practitioner in those modalities that aided my own reentry into Life.
It is very rewarding for me to be able to work alongside someone as they start to live their own values and achieve their own goals. This can be in many guises, direct or indirect. Directly, through personal coaching or writing to commission; indirectly, through written offerings or the listening to my music.
My current joyful, fallible, creative existence is enhanced by my beloved family. I am an inordinately proud mother and grandmother and live with my long suffering husband and terrier.
I use the following modalities in my coaching work, in which I am certified:- Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Simple Energy Techniques (SET), Provocative Energy Techniques (PET), Intention Tapping (IEP). I am a supervisor/mentor on Steve Wells’s IEP training courses.
I am fully insured and registered with Data Protection.
I have a Music Degree from Reading University (BA) and a piano teaching diploma from the Royal College of Music (ARCM). I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and have been teaching for 35 years.
My music composition is eclectic and includes children’s musicals and other songs. Currently most of my output is choral, both sacred and secular.
I have secretarial skills and qualifications and have worked as a concerts manager and in other administrative posts. I also have considerable experience in editing.
